Dental Blue® FAQ
1. Who is eligible for Dental Blue®?A: Any resident of North Carolina is eligible for dental coverage under Dental Blue®.
2. How soon can coverage begin?
A: Coverage will begin on the 1st day of the month following the receipt of a signed application provided that the application is received by BCBSNC® on or before the 20th of the month. Otherwise, the coverage will take effect on the 1st day of the following month.
3. What is the deductible amount and when is it applied?
A: The calendar year deductible is $75 and is applicable only to Basic & Major services. It does not apply to Preventive services like cleanings & checkups.
4. Is orthodontia covered?
A: No, orthodontic treatment is not considered a covered service.
5. Are teeth whitening treatments covered?
A: No, teeth whitening is considered to be cosmetic and is not a covered service.
